Our Vegan Pizza Story

Our Vegan Pizza History

In the summer of 2018 we found a small shack with a disused wood burning pizza oven inside it at Netil Market in Hackney, East London. We had always loved the idea of making pizzas (Marco is half Italian) and we had nothing to lose by taking it over and turning it into our first vegan pizza restaurant, giving it the moniker Death By Pizza for fun.

Death By Pizza

We utilised and applied our knowledge of making cheeses and sauces for our pies to the art of pizza crafting. Within a short time we had developed our first pizza menu featuring our favourite pizza concepts with grind house movie inspired names. It was always our intention to have fun with it but we quickly saw that there was potential to grow.

Young Vegans Pizza Shop

In May 2019 we took over a closed down vegan Italian restaurant (formerly Antonio’s Vegan Italian) in Bethnal Green which we rebranded as Young Vegans Pizza Shop. However, due to Covid 19 and rising costs forced us to close our doors. We decided to transfer our love and passion for vegan pizza to our new enterprise Casadei Foods, selling our vegan mozzarella and other ingredients to restaurants across the UK.

Vegan Pizza Online

During the pandemic we were making and selling our vegan pizzas online. To us, each pizza we made was a labour of love and a hybrid of our favourite pizza experiences from New York To Naples. Sadly it was not economical for us to keep making them post pandemic so we no longer make these.

Fresh Ingredients

However we still make all of our most popular toppings we including our vegan pepperoni, vegan nduja and our vegan mozzarella that melts perfectly every time and replicates the flavours and nuances of a traditional mozzarella.
